OK I'm thinking about it - how would we get started?
If you think we might be a good fit, you’re welcome to schedule a free 15-minute telephone consultation or video visit with me by completing the contact form, emailing me at admin@heydrq.com, or calling me at (253)785-9367 (OK to leave a message). If you’re “on the fence” or “undecided” – think about how you want things to be different 6 months from now. Think about if you’re OK with “as-is” 6 months, 1 year, or 5 years from now. Do something.
What does therapy look like?
After our initial 15-minute phone/video consultation, we can meet and talk about what’s going on in your life, identify and build on your strengths, discuss your goals, collaborate on a plan to move towards your goals. Could be a one-time consultation, could be more follow-up appointments. At some point we call it good as far as treatment because you’re feeling good (maybe even happy and healthy?). Over the years, I’ve helped and guided plenty of adults of all ages get closer to where they want to be, even with all that had happened in their lives and all that they’re dealing with now. How I think about life: always be growing, always be learning.
What are my approaches to treatment?
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - changing our relationship to painful/unpleasant thoughts, feelings, memories, etc. to live our values, be the people we want to be, do the things we want to do
-
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) - working with thoughts and behaviors to get you closer to where and how you want to be
-
Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy - reducing distress and strengthening adaptive thoughts related to traumatic stress through desensitization and reprocessing
-
Exposure and Response Prevention (EXRP or ERP) - helping manage OCD symptoms by doing challenges (exposures) + not doing rituals (responses)
-
Inference-based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for OCD (I-CBT) - breaking down the OCD, slowing down the process, taking the power away from the OCD story
-
Clinical Hypnosis - getting into the zone or daydreaming with a purpose
